YOUNG Bomber Alwyn Davey has capped an extraordinary first
year in the AFL by capturing the inaugural AFL Army Award.
Davey was recognised for a brilliant diving smother in round
six against Hawthorn. The speedy Bomber snared three of the final six
nominations for the award.

Davey was presented with the award at the All-Australian dinner on Monday night.
The AFL Army Award is a new award for the 2007 season that
recognises match-day acts which demonstrate courage, initiative and teamwork.
The award aims to reward the one percent style acts such as
game-breaking smothers, tackles and shepherds. Following each round, the three
most influential acts were posted on afl.com.au and fans voted to determine the
best act for the round just played.
The AFL All-Australian selection committee short listed the
22 weekly winning acts to six nominations which were then be voted on by the public via
afl.com.au.
The All-Australian selection committee endorsed Davey's win.
Davey received a travel voucher and an Army Experience.
